There are still a few nice days left in the season before the cold weather comes. I am trying to squeeze in as many outdoor activities as possible, as I am sure you are, too. One thing that might not cross your mind as a fun outdoor activity is washing your car. It not only provides a clean vehicle, but you can simultaneously save money and get some exercise!
You will first need a hose attached to some sort of water supply, and it is best to have a spray nozzle on it to control water pressure. You can typically find a hook up for your hose along the outside of your house someplace, which has a faucet you can screw the hose into. Now that you have got that under control, you need car wash supplies.
You will need a sponge of some sort. A big sponge is best to cover the large surface area of the car. The choice is yours whether to use a synthetic or natural sea sponge for the job. A sturdy bucket is the next of the car wash supplies. As long as the bucket holds at least two gallons of water, you can use just about any sort. A bucket and sponge would be no good, however, without some car wash soap!
Using specially formulated car wash soap is important. House hold dish soap might harm the finish of your car, so it is best to stick with the real thing. Now that you have all of the car wash supplies you need for a basic wash you can begin.
If you like to go the extra mile making your car look professionally done, there are a couple more things you might want to buy. A chamois cloth is good to have to dry your car by hand so it does not streak. Once your car dries, you can use special car wax to give it a beautiful shine that can make it look like new again. Just about all of these supplies can be purchased at your local grocery or specialty shop. Even though the initial cost of car wash supplies may be more than a one time car wash, you can use these items again and again to make your car look fantastic, which saves you money in the long run! Do it yourself car washing is an all around win, and between the sun and exercise, you will be cruising around your spotless hot rod with a smile!
