Is it possible to evolve your brain? Is there scientific evidence that our brains can evolve and be rewired? Well, new understandings in the world of neuroscience have shown that in fact it is very possible to evolve your brain. What the latest findings are showing us is that the brain is not hard-wired. It can rewire its neuronal circuits at any time throughout our lives. The term for this ability is neuroplasticity and it is this that allows us to evolve our brain.
Scientists have also learned that our habits and ways of being are brain patterns and that by changing these patterns we can change our life.
We can do this through using techniques like inner rehearsals where we practice new ways of being. This is something that Olympic athletes have practiced for years. However, the new brain science is just now confirming how powerful these techniques are. One of the main proponents of these methods is Dr. Joe Dispenza.
You might remember him from the movie "What the Bleep do We Know!?" He is the one who describes creating his day. For many people this scene was one of the most intriguing in the movie. Is it possible to create your day, to actually exert some influence on our day? Well, Dr. Dispenza claims it is possible and has been teaching people how to do this for many years.
Dr. Dispenza teaches that our habits and patterns are really nothing more that neural nets, groups of neurons that fire in a certain pattern that cause various neuro-chemicals to be released which create various feelings and emotions that we will either try to enhance or avoid. In this way we are controlled by our brain chemistry.
For example, if you have a fear of flying, then every time that you see a plane, think about flying or contemplate a foreign holiday the brain will secrete various chemicals that will create anxiety. The brain is actually trying to protect you from
this thing called flying. You have taught yourself that flying is dangerous and as a result the brain will protect you from that danger by creating a state of anxiety so that you are awake and alert to that danger and will avoid it.
However, it is possible to disassemble the neural net that creates the anxiety concerning flying. If we are able to remove the energy from this neural net it will gradually atrophy. The energy to the net is created by thoughts. Each thought creates
a small burst of energy. Many thoughts over a period of time will create a thought pattern that is sustained by the energy from those particular thoughts. Remove the energy and the neuronal connections are gradually disconnected and the resulting neuro-chemical outputs stop.
There are numerous techniques and strategies for disassembling destructive neural nets and creating more positive ones. Some also believe that there is a strong possibility that our inner reality may actually have some influence on our outer world. That by rewiring the inner world we may in fact create a more positive, conducive outer environment.
