Embrace The Simple Things In Life

It was Christmas, and the first thing in the morning my wife asked me to get a haircut. Well, I had been postponing getting my hair cropped not because I was lazy but I have not been able to contact my barber ever since I got back from Jakarta. To this date, he is the only barber who knows how I want my hair cropped. I finally managed to reach him in the afternoon, and set an appointment later in the evening. I spent the morning and afternoon just resting and surfing the net. Later, at my barber's shop, Mr. Arasu told me that he was involved in an accident ten days ago. While crossing over a drain, he slipped and hurt his left elbow badly. He was advised by the doctor to take plenty of rest until the elbow heals. Only today he is opening his shop. His is just a small shop, no fancy slogans, just two chairs and some magazines. What fascinated me today was, there were no less than fifteen people who dropped by his shop (during the time I was there) to enquire on his well being, and that did not include the phone calls he had received. Upon learning of his mishap, they showed so much of concern for him and advised him all kind of stuff to take care of his health. I also noticed that all those who visited him had not had a hair cut for some time! Almost all of them had their appointment fixed for the next few days to get their hair cropped! Talk about brand loyalty! That is Mr. Arasu, he is really good at his work. Although he may not be able to give you the latest hairstyle, he can give you a decent hair cut that you ask for. The beauty is, he can almost sense what kind of mood you are in when you walk in, and he adapts himself to that. If you just prefer to be quiet, than somehow the whole hair-cut session is simply quiet. On the other hand, if you have something on your mind, then that would be the topic for that moment; he is genuinely concerned about his customers. The person would definitely be feeling good after a hair cut at Mr. Arasu's, but it is not only about the hair cut, it is the magical vibes that you feel chatting with him. He often has tea with the customer whenever he had the time at the coffee shop next door. He treats his customers as his friends. He loves his family very much and recently he was in Langkawi (a small little island north of Peninsular Malaysia) for holidays. That is what life is all about, giving our very best in whatever we do, no matter how trivial it may seem; a call to our loved one, saying hello to our client, waving back to a child who just waved at us, saying thank you, or simply smiling to a stranger. They are these small things that we do daily that make us human beings special, really special. Those who wish to have a hair cut at Mr. Arasu's shop, he is based in Sri Petaling, Kuala Lumpur and can be reached at 603-90584212.
