According to the American Association for Reproductive Medicine, infertility affects about 6.1 million people in the United States, or ten percent of the population in reproductive age. The female infertility accounts are for one third of cases of infertility, men are for another third, infertility combined for 15% and the rest remains "unexplained".
The secondary infertility is the difficulty to conceive after having already conceived by a normal pregnancy. In addition to various medical conditions (eg hormonal), it could be the effect of age and stress felt in providing a brother to the first child. Technically, we are not talking about secondary infertility if one of the partners has changed.
